On delivery, usually in the AM, but guaranteed by 17:00, it is vitally important to follow the following procedure in order to get the best from your maggots:

1. Open the tub and pour the maggots into trays no more than 2inches deep

2. Leave them alone! It is important that the maggots are left to “come around” before they are riddled or refridgerated. The time it takes depends largely on what the room temperature is, taking a minimum 2hrs.

3. Once the maggots have “come around” and are wriggling freely, we recommend they are riddled and put in fresh sawdust before refrigerating.

4. Remember that multiple changes in temperature actually quicken metabolism and encourage the maggots to turn to castors. We recommend only keeping 1days worth of maggots in the sales fridge, if facilities permit, as the opening and closing of the door could affect longevity. Otherwise, consider splitting your order to be delivered twice weekly to have the freshest maggots in town.
